Facing Food Control Issues:
Taming Your Chew

In this special presentation, Dr. Lamothe explains what a holistic approach is and explains the issue of compulsive eating from physical, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual perspectives. She explains reasons for overeating and outlines specific ways to change this frustrating, self-defeating behavior. Additionally, she offers many creative strategies to permanently cement healthy changes and to develop and maintain a peaceful relationship with food.

Balancing Life, Work and Family:
Managing Stress Creatively

The world becomes more stressful each day. As modern conveniences are created for the purpose of saving us time, we seem to have less and less precious time for ourselves. This talk focuses on ways to identify some of the internal and external stressors in our lives, how to cope with them creatively, as well as ways to take care of ourselves when we think we can’t. We cannot avoid all upsetting experiences, but we can learn to approach our challenges in constructive, positive, self-nurturing ways. Dr. Lamothe outlines concrete steps each of us can take to keep difficult events in perspective, to avoid personalizing stressful situations when they occur, and to maintain or return to balance when we encounter frustrating, stressful circumstances in our hectic lives.

Understanding Eating Disorders:
Helping Ourselves and Others

Eating disorders are present today in our culture in epidemic proportions. This talk focuses on ways to identify and understand anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and compulsive eating. Dr. Lamothe first explains some of the reasons for the prevalence of food control problems in our culture from physical, emotional, social, environmental and spiritual perspectives. She then shifts focus to ways we can prevent or reverse self-destructive, compulsive eating behaviors – for ourselves and/or for others.
